#TECHTipTuesday: Customer Support (from a TECHnical Perspective™)

Happy Tech Tip Tuesday!

When you think about customer service for ANY business, it's so vital that you make the RIGHT first impression with your consumer and clients. This sets the tone for future interactions so you should be mindful of this. How are you providing this to your community? This definitely something you need to think about today even if you haven't. Here are the 3 ways to provide Customer Support to your consumers using TECHnology:

  • Social Media: Social Media is truly the new customer service in 2016. Companies are understanding this and realizing that this is important and putting their resources in this area. If you have a strong social media following and looking to use it for customer support, make sure you are putting the right people in place to monitor it. Definitely using technology the right way. Here's a great example of how ConvertKit does customer service on Twitter:
This is how customer service in social media should be done (yes, this is my sarcasm coming out for an issue but ConvertKit fixed it right away. Kudos to the team.

  • Chat Bots (Virtual Agents/AI): One of my classmates from Georgia Tech Monique (founder of ThePartyMatch and TPMFocus) discussed this on her Periscope the other night and she was ABSOLUTELY right about everything she discussed. Chat Bots are basically programed artificial intelligence that will allow you to engage in conversation with your customers on your behalf. It saves you time and usually can answer general questions your consumers have about their order or purchase. Here is a great example of a chat bot:
GoDaddy and other companies sometimes use Chat Bots or Live people. Depending upon the platform, this is just an example how you think you are talking to someone live when it could be a chat bot.

  • Hire a Customer Support Team Company: Sometimes you might not have the time or team to run your support channels. This is where hiring a company can come in. They can fine stream a process and script to say to your consumers based on their questions (even handle difficult customer service issues). The investment you can make in them can definitely save you time and money. Here's an example of a customer support company:
TaskUs is a company based outside the US but known to provide customer support. Just an example.

If you want your business to continue to grow, customer support is DEFINITELY the way to go. Just make sure your TECHnology™ can meet your consumers needs.
